It's more of a "Black Goodstuff" build, but if you wanted to include combos like Mike/Trike, you would be able to close out a game much quicker. This means the deck is INCREDIBLY mana hungry, which means ]/], ], ], ], ], and ] pull their weight in the deck. In my build, I don't have any combos or anything like that, attempting to win the game through a massive ] or copied ] triggers. He is a bit slow to establish his board state, especially if you whiff on Gonti triggers - my solution to the problem was a bunch of edict effects like ], ], and ] to keep the board clear and let you get set up, which leads to my next point: There are two things I would note that I am still trying to fine then in the deck, as gimmicky and fun as it is: With lots of sac outlets and ETB enhancing effects, such as ] and ], you can even target multiple people (or the same person twice), and lets you find ]s or even removal/counterspells outside of your colours. Gonti is your man - the look in Atraxa's face when she goes to find ] off a tutor and can't find it is PRICELESS. So I'm just looking for suggestions, either which of the commanders I've listed would be best for this strategy, or if there are any I've missed that may be better. Jeleva was another candidate, but there are already 3 or 4 Jeleva decks in my meta. The Scarab God is interesting, but I think I'd prefer it in the 99 of a deck than at the helm of one. Geth and Gonti I'd prefer to avoid, both because they seem a little slow and because I'm trying to avoid having multiple decks of the same colour (I already have a mono black deck helmed by Horobi). I'm a big fan of the TCC list for this guy. He's also not a commander I see played often, which is a plus for me. Plus, a lot of my commanders at the moment scream "Remove me from the board ASAP" and it would be a nice change of pace to have a commander who can kind of fly under the radar. Though his ability doesn't lend itself to this particular strategy, he's in the right colours for it, meaning I could definitely include this strategy. ] is another option I've been considering. Built in protection is very nice, and I could see filling a deck with other clone and recursion effects to take and copy whatever my opponents have on board or in graveyard. I like the idea of mass mill, shifting Lazav into whatever creatures hit the graveyard as a result. Also, as it's three colours I imagine it could get a little more pricey, and I don't really have a huge budget. Having a deck that's fun to play against (as well as pilot) is something I value quite highly. ] seems like an obvious choice, given that playing your opponent's cards is all it really does, but I can't imagine it's too fun to have your cards taken right out of your hand. However, I'm struggling to decide on which commander might best be suited for this strategy. I'm a big fan of decks that have a lot of variance in what they end up playing. It seems like it would be a lot of fun if, each time you sit down for a game, you essentially have three other new decks worth of cards you can possibly play. A strategy I've been thinking about a lot recently is playing your opponent's decks.
